I've been having an earache and ringing in my ears for a few months now. Dr gave me antibiotics and said take mucinex but it hasn't helped.
Has anyone had this kind of problem long term? I'm wondering if it's stress related?
ever since I got shot at on my left ear with BB guns without any BB up-close, I kept on hearing screeching/whistling sound.. it's get little loud some time to time.. and it's been 4 months.. how long will it last?? will it go away?? if it's tinnitus then would it possible to go away by itself since it's been 4 months?
I went to a concert last night and stood right beside the freakin' speakers and now I'm paying for it. This is the first time this has ever happened to me so I'm guessing it shouldn't be as bad as say like a 3rd or 4th time occurrence. And if I'm wrong then I'd love some input. Thanks!
Is Tinnitus can result due to hearing loss . Is it a case for ENT or Neorologist doctor . Whom should a patient of Tinnitus should approach . Can this disese permanently curable .
So about 3 hours ago I was sitting at my cubicle and my ears started feeling weird, mainly my right one. I felt like they had the air on too high, almost like there was a helicopter or train near by. My right ear is really clogged up and the other ear is being extremely sensitive to sound. I feel disoriented, but not dizzy (yet?). I just feel uncomfortable and a little dazed. I have had vertigo some in the past several years ago, but never had this ear problem. I know all about tinnitus, but haven't heard of one ear being dull and pressured, while the other is picking up too much sound, and along with disorientation and fatigue. Any guesses?
My dad when he was 16 months old had spinal meningitis which has lead him to serious nerve damage and he got wholes through his ears.
he also got tinnitus on top pf that. he has a special case which has caused him not able to hear very well at all, people have to repeat several times what they have said, he has high buzzing sounds non-stop and only gets about 3 hours a night of sleep.
he has had thoughts of death because it drives him nuts the doctor's could not come up with a cure for such a case.
please i need my dad in my life...does anyone have a cure or something that might let him take me to a movie or allow him to work and lead a halfway normal life.
I really need some help if any one has ANY ANY suggestions at all please all is appericiated.
I am behind in all of my classes at university.. I've been really sick, on top of Meniere's disease, hypothyroid symptoms, it might not sound like a lot but I am always exhausted these days and I'm only 20. I have constant tinnitus and it's so hard to get to sleep. also it distracts me 24/7 and studying can be hard.. I can barely function or focus or even have a social life (that's the worst..) I wish I could just snap out of it.
last year, my first year of university, I had to drop all classes.. I am so scared that I might have to drop again this semester and that doing so will affect me in the future. I have been afraid to speak to my profs, because I don't know how to explain to them what's been going on, I am so ashamed of myself for not going in to talk to them sooner.
I know there are people out there going through a million times worse, but what is the best way to approach my profs and snap out of this? I feel like my life is slipping out of control.. I don't want to waste my whole youth tired/alone/asleep/struggling to keep up with the simplest of things
Is there any cure? I can still hear through the ear, and its only in the left, not right ear. Never heard of this problem till I got it. And yes, I do clean my ears using cotton swabs. I suppose its a message to others not to stick anything in your ears. Its really true that doing so can cause trouble.
My father who has had tinnitus for over 20 years now, apparently he had a spike about 3 days ago and the volume is still at that level. Before the spike he could cope with the noise but now its not so easy and its really taking a toll on him. I was wondering if anyone knew what causes these sudden increases in volume and if anyone knows about any treatments that actually work and reduce the intensity.
What are ALLLL the ways to get Tinnitus? (the ringing in your ears). or the most common way?
you can't just wake up one day and have it right?
and before you get it you have symptoms right? what are they? you don't just suddenly get it right? thank you
This morning I had a pretty stuffy nose in one nostril, and when i sneezed, the pathway was clogged from my left nostril, and i felt a bit of air from my left ear. I thought everything was fine until 4 hours later when all of a sudden, i felt an excruciating, but tolerable pain in and around my right ear and around that area inside my mouth. I looked up some injuries from sneezing that relates to the ear, but all i could find was Tinnitus, and inner ear damage. Is it possible that i damaged my inner ear? i mean like, right now i feel fine. I can hear perfectly, but occasionally, (this is around the second time it hurts, roughly around 14 hours after first sign of pain), i get a slight discomfort, and a little less pain. Is it possible that this will heal? Could i have ruptured/injured a part of my inner ear? Btw, i have accidentally suppressed a sneeze many times before due to a stuffy nose, and all that happens is that air comes out my ears and i feel kinda funny, but then it goes back to normal within minutes. The thing is, this is the first time i have felt pain from this. Is it necessary to go seek professional help if this problem persists, or just go ahead and go see a doctor ASAP? If you could so lend me some helpful advise on whether to get it checked out or know what may be the problem/injury (and if it can be healed), I would greatly appreciate it.
I bought these "sleepsense" melatonin pills for my insomnia.. I was wondering if it's possible to take 2 instead of just the recommended 1? I took the first one a couple of hours ago and am still awake though tired, my problem is sleep quality because of tinnitus.. is 6 mg melatonin and 3000 mcg vitamin B12 going to hurt a 20 year old girl who weighs 210 pounds and is 5'7"?
Why do I head high pitched noise only when its completely silent?
Is tinnitus? Its very faint and I hear it normally only when I realize it and concentrate on it.
I've been having tinnitus for over a year, but with no evident hearing loss (I got tested with machines, etc.). I have no idea what's causing it, on the same side of my affected ear, I have ear-aches, palpable nodes on neck (very small, not visible just palpable), and a constant dull ache around the jaw. I've had x-rays, ultrasounds of the neck done, and doctors seem to find nothing. They say my lymph nodes are normal. What could be causing my tinnitus?
If you try hard to convince yourself that it isn't there, if you manage to get to the point of ignoring it completely will it go away? I have Meniere's Disease and have had constant tinnitus in my right ear for almost 5 years, I am only 20 and I can't think straight .. if it's in your head (literally) then can you eventually learn to ignore it to the point where it just disappears? How much brainpower would that take?..haha
also can 24/7 tinnitus be psychological, brought on by stress? how can I get rid of it if that is the case?

I'm going through so much. No one cares or understands. They don't wanna hear how I feel.
I'm not even gonna commit suicide or kill myself. I'm just gonna stay home & stay in bed all day, every day. & starve until I die. I haven't been eating much, lately as it is. People, especially my family, hate me so much they don't want me to live. I'm not asking for pity or sympathy. I just need supportive, positive, & uplifting advice.
With my neurological & anxiety disorders, people keep trying to shove religion down my throat & telling me I'm going to hell when I die, since I can't control these. Tourette's, depression, anxiety, OCD. There u have it.
I'm 25 with a college degree & considered disabled. No vocational rehab counselors want to help me find a job. I'm DYING for work! I got student loans to pay off, & employers discriminate & laugh because of my facial tics.
It's pointless for me to live. I'm not gonna eat or drink anything. Not even water. Pointless to take my medicine if they don't help.
I'm about to cry right now. Holding it in. Don't want to talk to or be around anyone. I'm in excruciating mental, physical, & emotional pain. I get too many stomach & headaches. Never feel comfortable. Always weak, dizzy, & feeling like I'm about to pass out. Pointless to go to the Dr. or hospital if they try to turn my physical illness into mental, & try to call me a hypochondriac. I'm NOT! People always think Dr.'s diagnoses are always correct. Doctors diagnose incorrectly all the time. Why do you think they have so many medical malpractice lawsuits & wrongful deaths?
They always give me wrong medication & misdiagnose me in the psych ward, & I feel punished & trapped for 3 weeks there. Feels like some kind of detention. The way I'm feeling right now, I know I need to check myself in, but based on ALL past experiences, the hospital never benefited me. All it did was hurt me more. All they do is yell @ you, treat you like a child, pin you down & restrain you & put a cocktail of Haldol, Cogentin, & who knows what else, & throw you in the seclusion room & laugh & think it's funny. In my everyday life, & in the hospital, people get their KICKS out of triggering me off to have a Tourette's outburst, so they can laugh. It's not fair. I need help & don't know where to turn. I don't even have my family. I have sensitive ears (hyperacusis) & tinnitus & vertigo, & my brothers & sisters smack on their food LOUD, on purpose, just to trigger me off to have an anxiety attack, & they laugh hysterically, like they're watching a funny comedy show.
I give up on my life. I can't take suffering any longer.
I'm 20 and for the past 5 years I've had constant, 24/7 loud tinnitus (due to Meniere's disease) in my right ear. it's made it very hard to concentrate, sleep well and distracts me al the time. I have been sick in other ways too and lately I am really tired of it. you'd think I'd just get used to it by now? what are some good ways to deal with it? I have been barely feeling like myself at all, honestly, for almost 4 years and I'm sure it shows. what are some good ways to deal with this...? how can I keep it from distracting me so much?
My ears have had this CRACKING noise for like over 6 YEARS now probably longer. since i ever knew and im not even 20 yet!! i just figured out it wasn't normal when i asked my sisters if they had it too and they din no what i was talking out. My hearing is getting worse now and i am getting very concerned. i think i have ETD(Eustacian Tube Dysfunction) maybe TINITUS and maybe TMJ i dont no wat that is but i've been seeing it everywhere. pleeeeeassse help me cuz i have to crack my ears about 10 times every MINUTE(no exaggeration) and my ears dont pop anymore.
btw. can everyone who answers just include a yes or no if tinnitus is a low high pitch. to test this you have to sit there and concentrate. and i mean no music or anything. and if you hear a low high pitch? cuz now when i think about it i do but i dont usually notice it and it only gets louder when i actually think about it. and wow!! i saw on one page that if you take your finger and make soft circles around your outer ear it can help and and i just did it and it worked a little but seriously i need help.
Ever since I can remember every time I itch a roaring sound (like tinnitus describes) goes on in my left ear, and only my left ear. I can also make it make that sound my squeezing it (I am one of those people who can wiggle my ears) and making my eyes turn in that direction very quickly. One in a while it'll be in both of my ears in sync with my heartbeat. I used to think everybody was this way and that was one way of your body alerting you that you were itching, until one day I asked my mom if this happened to her and she said "no". Then through googling on the web I found out about tinnitus. This is not seriously bothering me (and based on what I've read is not the worst of cases) but I've wondered if it is a sign of an underlying problem and if I should seek help form a doctor.
I have four impacted teeth being removed next week, I was wondering whether or not these could be causing my tinnitus .. it only occurs randomly and maybe a couple times a day but is annoying...
i hear doctors always giving us none supernatural answers for everything, i believe in god,,, and spirits and all this appear and are felt by us like static or frequencies... and a sudden high pitched ringing in my ear is classed as tinnitus,,,, but i hear the exact sound when i use to turn on tube TVs, when the static and frequency would give off a high pitch sound,, does that mean we all get tinnitus when we turn on TVs?? NO... also you can get it of radio control cars when you turn something electrical on you can here the high pitched ringing frequency.........
im not being skeptical or non skeptical, but thats fact the ringing comes from electrical frequecies, and i know spirits can be picked up like electrical frequecies.. and there is supernatural links to ringing in ears.... does anyone else think the same,,,,, supernatural makes more sense to me,,, than some doctor telling everyone they have tinnitus... its almost as bad as a psychologist calling people crazy for beliving in god,, just because they dont.......
I went to a music show at a bar last night and was very close to the guitar amp and speakers, for atleast 20 to 30 minutes. It has been more than 24 hours and I can still hear the ringing sounds. I dont think the intensity has decreased.
Has anyone experienced something similar? How long did it last (if it did last)? Also, was there a gradual decrease in intensity?
Note: I would prefer answers from people that have actually experienced what I am experiencing. I dont need information copy-pasted from the Internet. I could surf for that information anytime myself, like articles on Tinnitus etc.
Occasionally, when I'm changing position from sitting on the floor to getting up, I'll start feeling dizzy, so I have to stop moving half-way, which means I 'freeze' in a stooped position.
Often at that point, if I move my eyes I get a weird 'ch ch, ch ch' sound in my ears, that coincides to moving my eyes, and at the same time it's like 'I' or something in my head (but not exactly my brain) shifts from side to side, along with the "ch ch" sound.
It's the strangest feeling (and sound) and it's so odd that it seems to be connected with my eyes. It took decades before I made that connection. I do also have tinnitus, but this is completely different.
I also have other difficulties, like awful heat and humidity intolerance, exercise intolerance, fear, etc but my doc says there's nothing wrong with me.
Anyway, has anyone else ever experienced or heard of that 'ch ch' sound and the shifting sensation?
Thanks,
Dori
Got back from the doc not to long ago, and he told me everything I didn't want to hear. I have had tinnitus and a mild hearing loss for almost a year now, and I want relief! I have already been to an ENT who told me he couldn't help. Is there a specialist or something for this? I have herad there are things that can help, like maskers, and medicine. Has anyone out there gotten relief from either hearing aids, maskers, or medicine? Thanks.
btw...I'm only 17.
I just want the doc to give me something!! The ringing gets really annoying in school, especially when im teying to take tests.
thanks golden gal.....I'm going to ask my mom to call another ENT. If you dont mind me asking, What gave you your hearing loss in the first place?
Mine was from surgeries when i was younger...tubes in my ears and stuff like that.
I had an ear infection some time back which caused perforation in both eardrums. My ears haven't felt the same since and recently i suspected an ear infection so got some eardrops from the chemist. In my right ear when i put some in i heard a strange rustling noise then all of a sudden pain, like the eardrop had gone through my eardrum. Then yesterday I got water in my ear in the shower and I had the same pain, in fact probably a little worse, and it left my ear quite painful for most of the morning. Last night i woke up and my ear was making some strange noises like rustling etc. almost like the water was trapped in there somehow behind my eardrum? When i lie with my ear facing up i have had some real sharp pain, when i lie with it facing down i had some of those strange noises again. Now when i woke up this morning my hearing is really really bad in my right ear, there is almost no hearing there at all when i cover my left ear. I have an appointment at the ear nose throat department in a couple of weeks but just wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar?
P.S I have always had mild hearing loss due to glue ear when i was younger and scarring on my eardrums from a couple of operations (t-tubes, grommets), and i also have pretty much permanent tinnitus (it varies in volume, pitch etc.)
Nope no back pain.
I have also noticed today that such as when you cover your ear and it pops and you can feel a reaction in your ear, such as if you put your finger in your ear then take it out... this ear does not react at all it is as though there is no ear drum in there!!!!
Hi! I wonder if i have tinnitus. I hear it when i go to sleep, and if i concentrate on it I hear it louder. And when i yawn i can hear it but a very high tone. And it's just in my right ear. So, is it tinnitus?
please help; im not looking for a diagnosis...more of a path to see what's going on;
okay so, this only seems to happen when i lay the right ear against the couch. (like, when you lay down to watch tv...) it doesn't happen when im in bed.
what i hear in my ear is a quick beating. like a ....thumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthump. much faster then the sound of a heartbeat. my resting rate is 76bpm. there is no pain. it's totally random. it usually only comes on when i am swallowing or it could just happen laying there. when i move, it can go away, but it seems to come back...
anyone have the same? or a clue as to what it could be? i don't think its tinnitus because i don't hear the sound of my heartbeat; it's much faster.
thank you in advance!!!
About 4 days ago I woke up one morning with ringing in my ears. I didn't have the ringing when I went to bed the night before and there were no loud noises during that night.
Ever since then the ringing has not stopped. If I cover my hands to both ears I can hear the ringing.
I can also hear bizarre things, like the high pitched sound of my bathroom light when it's turned on or the electricity running through my computer monitor.
.
It's as if whatever I hear between 16khz-18khz gets exaggeratedly high. For the first day after I got the ringing even the PA announcer on the tram to work hurt my ears and gave me a slight headache...now it hurts a good deal less.
What on earth is going on and how can I fix this? For the record, I don't have a stuffy nose or any obvious "sinus" symptoms. I sure hope this is not Tinnitus: were are only 28 and only go to loud clubs or live venues about once a month or less for one hour or less at a time.
As if this were not weird enough, this afternoon my girlfriend got the same thing. I would think maybe my motorcycle caused this (engine noise, even though I wear a helmet)...but she mysteriously got it about 5 days after we last rode on the motorcycle.
I had a really really bad cold about 6 months ago, and the cold left me hearing me my heartbeat in my left ear. I can hear perfectly fine with my left ear, it's just that I can hear my heartbeat. I'm not sure what it is, my closest guess is that it's pulsatile tinnitus. But I have to go to my doctor, because I'm not so sure.
Ok, so my second point is that people say that it should go over, since my pulsatile tinnitus is combined with a cold I had, but there's gone 6 months! Did I really have a that bad a cold or is there anything wrong with my ear? Maybe I have high blood pressure?
And what can you do to make it disappear? PLEASE HELP!!
http://health.learninginfo.org/tinnitus.htm
it suggests a way of beating the back of your head to stop ringing, (take a look what it says your self to understand), Ime not sure if it works though?
I am 16 and I believe I have hearing loss. I was diagnosed with otitis media when I was one. My parents decided to keep me off antibiotics and to have the doctors perform surgery instead. I have been getting this same operation until I turned 14. Since my ear drum was growing, I had to get a new grommet placed in my ear. How can I have hearing loss when the doctors caught the problem early? Also, I have tinnitus. I had bad ear aches as a child. Even after the surgery. The doctors prescribed ear drops for the pain, and they helped.
I have always been an anxious person, ever since I can remember. But just recently, I have really had alot on my mind to the point of breaking down. I have had nights where I just can't sleep, constant crying spells, and periods of just pure grief. I have developed tinnitus, but have learned to live with it, though that added to my anxiety. Now, I have what can only be described as a series of beeps that I can hear over and over in my head (kinda like how you can't get a certain song out your head). This also adds to sleepless nights and anxiety. Has anyone ever been where I am now? I feel kinda crazy.
I am 20 now, but when I was 13, I started getting vertigo attacks and very loud constant ringing in my ears. fluctuating hearing loss too. I had all of the typical Meniere's symptoms. including over the past 7 years a worsening brain-fog and depression.
I was diagnosed with "Meniere's syndrome" at 15. last year I put on 60 pounds rapidly without change in diet. My thinking is becoming sluggish. I just got a blood test back, I have low cortisol, low progesterone, low testosterone, elevated TSH.. my doctor's referred me to an endocrinologist, further blood tests, and a CT scan. This may not help at all, but prior to getting "Meniere's" I remember waking up a lot with lower back pain
I've read that hypothyroidism can cause all of my symptoms - hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo, weight gain, mental symptoms, tiredness, depression..I'm wondering if maybe I don't HAVE Meniere's Disease, is there is ANY possibility that a thyroid or hormone problem could be at the bottom of this ALL? And if so what is the prognosis for having had it so long, untreated? :/ thanks SO much
nope, I am having my t3 and t4 checked on monday!!
Anyone got over it? Like complete remission of all symptoms?
Mine started with cracking and clicking in right jaw for 2 years and tinnitus, stiff in the morning etc.
then I read on "ehow.com" (never go there) and was told some "selfhelp" to TMJ, and suddenly now my left jaw is feeling so weird, I can't speak normally, it feels like all the muslces on my left face is fuckdup, it even looks that way from the outside.
I got muscle knots infront of right under the ears, I KNOW these are the cause.
But these muscle knots wont loosen up, warm water, massage, nothing :(
I read on a forum once about a guy who used this device calld c-gap c-cap g-gap g-cap or somthing, but I can't remember the name and the forum is now closed.
anyone heard of any such thing ?
Singing is my life and now i can't sing for shit
I'm 20, I just got back these blood results, and my doctor referred me to an endocrinologist. he said that I have low cortisol, low progesterone, unusually low testosterone, and elevated TSH?
my symptoms are sudden weight gain (60 pounds over 5 months) (that stopped, but won't come off), anxiety, tinnitus, brain fog, exhaustion, infrequent periods (starting last Dec.) to name a few
I've also had Meniere's disease for 7 years, which is the cause of the tinnitus, it's constant.. I've been really stressed out for the last 5 years, and extremely so the past couple of years
