I was just watching a video of a English family discussing a medical disorder, and I've always wondered about using the term "in hospital" instead of "in the hospital."
Does that get confusing sometimes like if you're discussing more than one hospital in your city?
I know this is a stupid question, but I'll never know otherwise.
I need at least 2 people who work in the medical field (medical administration, receptionist in a health care clinic, medical coder, etc.) that can answer these questions for me..
It's for my class. If you don't mind, would you include your job title as well. THANKS A BUNCH!
1.What current trends do you think are the most important in the industry? Where can I learn more about these trends?

c.What professional or trade associations do you recommend?
3.What skills, education, and experience are necessary for my job target?
4.What new terminology or industry buzzwords do you suggest I know to be well prepared?
5.How did you succeed in the field? Would you recommend the same or a similar approach for me?
6.What other suggestions can you give me to improve my employability in the field (further education, training, research, reading, and so on)?

I was recently dead set on becoming an educator. However, about a few days ago I was thinking of what doctors do, what it requires, and all that sort of stuff; I found that this would be a career that I would enjoy very much and would allow me to make an impact on my community. I was wondering what being a pediatrician would mean financially, high school course wise, and university wise. What courses should I take in high school? Where I live we have what we call Applied Technology Center where we have specialized classes like Medical science and medical terminology. Would that be beneficial to me? Any information at all is greatly appreciated!
like are the tests also online, or in the testing center? if anyone has took it ,can you please tell me how it was? and do you recommend me to take it online or in class?
thank you for your help......
I have a project for my medical terminology class where you have to make up a game for everyone to play. I want to do something different. Everyone has done bingo and slap it and jeopardy and all around the world. Any new ideas? its for the muscularskelatal system.

I am trying to register for classes tonight, any ideas out there? I have never taken a college course online, I am in college now and I am doing very well. I have no problems with memorization. Also, the college has this class online for either the entire semester, or just the last month of it, which I figured would allow me to do well in the other courses that I am taking? Any advice?
I am 37 yrs old and I feel like I'm not in the career field I would like to be in. I've done fast food, worked in a Film Library and now I do Reservations at a Hotel Resort. I feel like I'm not in the career I want to be in. I love the medical field but, its so hard to learn all the medical terminology.
How can I find the right career field for me?
Please give me your ideas and input.
No rudeness please. I am trying to be serious here.
Thank you in advance for your answers.
I have discovered that I like autopsy shows like DR G and I like forensics. I wouldn't mind getting into Forensics. I love solving a problem or a mystery. Any info on this as well?
I'm a student in school for medical coding and insurance billing. I have six months left until I graduate and would like to know how to get my foot in the door? I'm familiar with some medical terminology and understand I need more knowledge. Where can I get more terminology without going back to school for it? And do you know anyone who might be willing to hire a new graduate?
I'm a junior in high school, and my mom's a nurse. Ever since I saw ER I thought it looked pretty cool to be a doctor. And since then, I've studied medicine and science in school and outside of it on my own. I had a whole year of home school and I used my spare time to study my anatomy book. I really love medicine and want to be a doctor, but I'm lacking the self confidence and I'm not sure I could do it..
I've been diagnosed with depression and my psychiatrist says it may even be a mild bipolar. The only affect this has is that when I do get depressed, I tend to procrastinate. I have an easier time with focusing on school, but then I tend to neglect my housekeeping and social life. Even when I'm on my meds I sometimes feel more down when the days get shorter (I live in Alaska).
Anyway. I went to treatment for my depression and am better and know how to deal with it better. I've also began to really focus on school. Because of my depression I had gotten behind in school, and am now making up classes like Algebra 1 (I have a very hard time with math, but am willing to study it extra if I have to) and English 2 (I'm really good with English and science though).
I have straight A's in school right now, and am taking an online class for Medical Terminology. This is where my problem is. I started the class a little late, and am very behind. There are 15 modules total, and I have to finish by the end of the semester. But I am only on module 6.
Main point: I really want to become a doctor, or at least work in medicine, but I am so scared that I won't be able to make it. (I'm very used to being the know it all, and I know that in med school everyone else is going to know just as much and maybe more). Does anyone have any tips? Anyone thing that I should reconsider?
Can someone (preferably Greek) suggest a programm that translates .doc (Windows Word) files from English to Greek? Please consider the following 2:
1.Must support MS Word PREVIOUS Versions! (My MS Office is 2003)
2.One must be able to create easily his own dictionary and apply it to the programm.I'll use much medical terminology and this IS important to me! If you know one that uses EXCEL files, that's the best.
If you don't know especially for Greek, but know a translation programm that works with other languages AND you can apply a-yourself-dictionary-suggest it and i'll try to find if there is a greek version.
Experience using the programm you suggest also will be helpfull to me.
Thank you all!
I'm 25, and I have no employment experience. I am thinking about applying for a job as a hospital unit clerk. I've been in college for two years now, and I've taken courses in medical terminology, biology, and other general courses that are required for my major which is Medical Assisting... which was surgical technology before that. My GPA is 3.45, so I think my education would look good on a resume, but I have nothing to put for employment experience.
I am wondering if a job as a unit clerk would be a good first job to have. I am just not 100% sure what it entails, so I am not sure if I am even qualified to apply for it. I always loved the idea of working in a medical environment doing clerical and even some clinical work, and that is my goal.
I've never had a job because I am a stay at home mom. My husband has a good job, so I don't have to work, but I want to. I am nervous, and I feel like I am getting such a late start on something that even most teenagers have experience with.
My questions are:
1. Would a Unit Clerk be a good option as a first job?
2. Can anyone (who is or works with a unit clerk) give me details about what they do on a day to day basis? (Also, how busy/stressful can it be at times?)
3. Does anyone have any advice or encouraging words about getting that first job?
4. Should I consider taking a course for Unit Clerk that is offered at my school before trying for a job as a unit clerk? (the problem here is that the job is available now, and the course doesnt even start until Jan. 09, but this is something I want to do even if it takes longer with the course.)
Yes, clinical training at a hospital is part of the course
Thanks everyone for the answers so far.

i asked if my accounting courses will count towards a merged gpa, this is the response i got back, does it sound like it counts or not...
Our merged GPA counts all non-technical courses taken for credit except remedial courses. This would include your accounting courses, but not, for example, a keyboarding course. Technical course work is usually something like Medical Terminology , specific to a particular field.
I am taking the Sutter Health test for Clinical Assistant and need to brush up on my medical terminology. I have been out of school for a while with a sick child. So if any one who has taken the test or knows where I can find the most common words I would be very grateful. Thank you.

My friend gets light headed and can even faint when she hears anyone discuss medical terminology. She is not afraid of needles but if you describe the procedures involved with giving her a shot she says her blood pressure drops and she gets light headed. Anyone ever heard or experienced this and what can be done about it?
